The Bose Soundlink Mini II dropped into my lap rather unexpectedly in recent times and I wanted to share my thoughts with all of you. Recently I went out on my annual camping trip with several of my friends where we love to get away from the distractions of everyday life. One of my friends who was supposed to bring a bluetooth speaker left his at home. Thankfully we were near a Bose outlet store, so we dropped in only to discover they had just released the brand new Soundlink Mini II.
What is immediately noticeable is that this $199 bluetooth speaker puts out a LOT of sound. The charging dock allows you to keep it charged without plugging in any cables, however there is also the ability to recharge it via micro-USB which proved to be very useful.
There really only is one major downside to this product which may turn off some more than others… price. While the quality is outstanding, one may want to consider “how much do I really want to pay for a bluetooth speaker?” You might remember that recently I reviewed the Nakimichi Bluetooth speaker which also puts out terrific quality audio at a fraction of the price ($60 instead of $200).
Overall if you have the money, you’ll love the Bose Soundlink Mini II. If you don’t, check out our review of the Nakimichi. While we tend to think it’s worth spending a bit of extra money on quality headphones and home theater speakers, a bluetooth speaker is typically used more casually and may not be worth the price. Another option you might want to consider is the original Soundlink Mini which goes for approximately $40 less and delivers nearly identical audio quality.
